2020 FAQ

Rules:


- Stories have to be a minimum of 1,000 words but can be a maximum of any length at all.

- Submit your fic at any point before the deadline. Feel free to default at any time if you can't finish your assignment by hitting the default button on your assignment page, or by emailing the mod at extreamdeadlinemod at gmail dot com. There is a suspension penalty that will go into effect, however, if you neglect to default in a timely manner. A pitch hitter will be assigned to your assignment, either way, in a timely manner.

- Optional details are always optional, but please be mindful of your recips do not wants and squicks. Intentionally squicking your recip is definitely bad form.

- Much like The Yellow Dog or Mister America, telling people about your secret identity as x's writer or recip isn't cool. Let them be surprised!

- While you can write about other federations and feuds with the characters you're matched on, try to base as much of the fic as you possibly can in the federation you were matched on.

HOW DOES THIS EXCHANGE WORK?


What do I have to do to participate in the exchange?

Have an AO3 account and some ability to follow up with the exchange in a timely manner. You can follow us on DW or LJ but you don't need to.


HOW IT WORKS:

1: Nominate things! A link will go up to nominations when they happen.
2: Sign up! I'll link you to the form on the community, or it'll be opened and ready to go by the date listed above.
3: Optionally, write a letter about the prompts you've left in your form. I'll open up a post and you can drop them there, as well as in your sign-up.
4: Once sign-ups close, matching will happen - and you'll get your matched assignment.
5: WRITE WRITE
6: EDIT EDIT
7: Ring The Bell - I mean post your fic up on AO3, being sure to check your assignment box when you fulfill it.
8: If you'd like to write some treats, feel free to do so - just don't add them to the collection until AFTER the assignment due date passes to better facilitate pitch hitting. You can still add them after the deadline, though, right up to next year's exchange.
9: Receive your fictiony goodness the day before SummerSlam!


What's eligible?

Any professional wrestler from any professional wrestling organization ever in existence! But Please try to nominate the version of the onscreen personality that matches the federation you're requesting! That means no El Generico in the WWE, etc., etc. If you have any questions about appropriateness, check out Wikipedia.



How does nominations and matching work?

You will nominate a minimum of 1 federation (with a max of 20) and 1 wrestler (with a max of 20) from said federations. You may also nominate up to 10 ships, though this is optional.

At sign up, you'll be able to request four different federations and a maximum of ten wrestlers each, choose whether or not you'd like your story to be storyline-or-kayfabe driven, and give a few prompts and/or pairing suggestions.

You'll be matched with someone who offered wrestlers that matched your request.


it's past reveals, yet I don't have a story. What happened?

Prod me in the slim event that you don't get a story via the contact post and I'll fix things.




WRITING Q'S



My recipient listed other characters and federations; I like those even better than what we matched on, can I write them?

Sure, you can write any sort of fic you'd like to write, as long as it matches the federations and characters - and doesn't offend the squicks - in your recip's request.


Can I ask for a crossover?

Please put this in your ODAO section. Wrestling/other fandom crossovers can't be guaranteed, as there's no way of confirming that your assigned author knows the fandom and should not be expected to be honored. Cross-federation crossovers, however, are at least worth tucking into your letter.


Can I ask my author for more details?

PM or message me and I'll ask 'em.


My story isn't 1000 words. Can I still post it?

Assignments have to be 1,000 completed words. A little under won't get you thrown out of the exchange, but fifty words less or over that amount will be considered an incomplete assignment and you will be automatically defaulted.

Treats can be any length, but shouldn't be posted until Pitch Hit Season is in Effect.


Pitch Hit Season? What's That?

Once assignments are due, all incomplete assignments will be assigned to new authors via a google group. During that period, any fic of any length fitting the given prompts may be posted, as long as all squicks are respected.




Post-Reveals



How secret is this little secret exchange?

You'll be anon through SummerSlam weekend, with reveals happening the weekend after.


But I hated what I got, can't I complain about it?

Be kind to your author; it's likely they didn't intentionally give you badfic, and that they tried their hardest to please you.
